Wild Pitch Records was an independent hip‑hop label launched in New York in 1985 by Stu Fine. Throughout the late ’80s and early ’90s, it became known for spotting sharp lyricists and forward‑thinking producers early in their careers. The roster included future heavyweights like Gang Starr, Main Source, Lord Finesse, The U.M.C.’s, The Coup, and O.C., with influential releases such as "Breaking Atoms" the album that featured Nas’s first recorded verse.
