A significant piece of early South Bronx hip-hop ephemera, featuring Afrika Bambaataa and the Zulu Nation at the Bronx River Center. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, venues such as Bronx River community centers, parks and neighborhood spaces became crucial gathering places where the emerging elements of hip-hop—DJing, MCing, breaking and graffiti—came together as a distinct cultural movement.
 
Afrika Bambaataa was instrumental in shaping this early culture. As a pioneering DJ and founder of the Universal Zulu Nation, he helped transform neighborhood parties into a broader movement centered on creativity, unity and community rather than street conflict.
