So So Def Records is an Atlanta‑based hip‑hop and R&B label founded by producer Jermaine Dupri in 1993. The imprint quickly became a defining force in Southern music, developing acts that would shape the region’s sound, including Kris Kross, Xscape, Da Brat, Jagged Edge, Bow Wow, and Dem Franchize Boyz. Early releases such as Xscape’s platinum‑selling debut and Da Brat’s Funkdafied—the first solo female rap album to go platinum—helped establish the label’s commercial and cultural impact.
