The Notorious B.I.G., born Christopher Wallace on May 21, 1972, grew up in Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. His debut album, Ready to Die, was a massive commercial and critical success, with millions of albums sold worldwide. His follow-up album, Death, was released just a week after his tragic death in 1997 and remains one of the best-selling hip-hop albums of all time. 
 
Notorious B.I.G. almost single-handedly reinvented East Coast hip hop and is widely considered the greatest MC ever.
